There are 3 items to complete prior to submitting your application for your insurance license:

1. Completing the required course/hours
2. Passing your exam
3. Getting your fingerprints completed with Livescan Fingerprinting Services

It doesn’t matter which order you complete these. However, all of them need to be completed prior to applying for your insurance license.
Complete your required course/hours

It doesn’t matter which school you use (online is cheaper) complete the needed material and time to obtain your certificate(s).
There may be one certificate for the 52-hour life agent course or 2 certificates (one for 40-hour life agent and one for the 12-hour code and ethics).

You do not need to send them to the Department of Insurance unless requested.
Keep them in your records for 5 years.
Schedule and pass your exam

For your property and casualty exam, you can register online at PSIExams.com
They will talk you through setting up your account and helping you register for your exam.
You can take the exam online at your home or office or at a physical location near you.

Note: If you take the exam online at your home or office, you will need audio and visual capabilities on your computer and have no distractions during the exam.

The exam consists of 150 multiple choice questions.
You will need a passing score of at least 60% (70% is the passing score in other states).
You will have about 3 hours to complete the exam.
You should get your score when you complete the exam and/or the results will be emailed to you.
Some exam locations provide fingerprinting services on-site. If not, read below for information.
Getting your Fingerprints completed

Simply search “livescan fingerprinting near me”.
Usually, it will be a local UPS store.
Call up and schedule an appointment.
Complete the required fingerprint form and bring it with you . They will electronically scan your fingerprints and electronically submit them to the Department of Insurance.
Completing your License Application

Here is the link to apply for your insurance license. It will be on the Sircon Platform.
You will apply for a New Insurance License,

Preparer is applicant,
Choose your state,
insurance producer.
Be sure to click both the Accident and Health or Sickness and Life boxes or both the Property and Casualty boxes (depending on the license you are getting).
Provide your personal information.
They will want a 5-year history regarding where you live and where you’ve worked.You will need to account for all 5 years. So, if you were in school or unemployed, you will have to list it. Do not leave any gaps or overlaps on your employment history.
Save a copy of the application for your records. If you are getting another insurance license, you will need to complete another application with the same information.
